Remember my Woodland Creatures Quilt? This this man has been enjoying it for the past year! Isn't he just adorable? He's my family doctor's little one! Boy did I ever miss her while she was gone, but she sure had a good reason! I don't think I'd want to come back to work either after having this little bundle of joy! So happy she's back, but I get it .... How can you leave this little guy behind? I'm so happy that he's still using it! The greatest gift to a quilter is to report back that the quilt's been loved to pieces! Little "F" will be sure to use this quilt for years to come!
I've had quite a go of it! The sewing has been pretty much a standstill with my left hand having trouble. Two years later....I still can't open doors, jars... it's actually worse than what it was before I picked surgery. If any of you out there are 'thinking' of having hand surgery for your thumb - please reconsider.
I do a lot of browsing! Not much quilting - but hopefully I will be getting back to it. Little bits and pieces. My time limit now is about 1/2 hour a day. Then I have to take a few days off to recover. My hand just aches. Thank goodness for Morgan, who helps cut. I think the last time I actually sewed on my machine was about 3 months ago! I think that was when I discovered how to put on buttons! My knitting is zero now as I can't hold the needles. My pinch is limited as my thumb is painful after [that means holding my hexies to hand sew is pretty much impossible!] The only thing that really works well is having my hands flat on the bed of the sewing machine to just guide fabric through.
My doc, has been great at keeping me sane! {as was her replacement when she was on maternity leave!} If you ever have a chance to visit Grandma O'Quilts , she is a force to be reckoned with! With my doc and Grandma O'Quilts blog, I've been living vicariously through her! Diane has been an amazing inspiration to me. She's had hip trouble, knee trouble, shoulder trouble...and she's also raising her 3 grandchildren on her own, to mention just a few of the challenges she has gone through. I honestly having nothing to whine about in comparison. I have been encouraged by her blog that one day I will be back to quilting and sewing! She is my hero in so many ways! Please visit her blog and drop her a line saying that Margo from Quilting Momma & The Youngest sent you! You won't be disappointed!
